John Lundqvist went to a Technical School and was subsequently 1907-13 aide to Christian Eriksson . In 1913 he studied at the Académie Colarossi in Paris where Auguste Rodin marked him. Between 1919-27, he was also living in Paris. His education he deepened in Copenhagen and Italy . His work is characterized by a deep religious attitude to life. It is inspired by the French sculptor Auguste Rodin and Gothic sculpture, but also obvious similarities with Carl Milles . John Lundqvist devoted himself mainly to ecclesiastical sculpture embellishments, like Resurrection Monument at Holy Cross Chapel at Woodland Cemetery in Stockholm. Lundqvist has also made ​​the crucifix gilded figure of Christ inside the chapel. Other famous works is the Resurrection (National Museum) and Orpheus , preliminary studies for Resurrection Monument, crucifixes for the Swedish Church in Paris (1926), Job (limestone sculpture, the National Museum ), Two People (1923) and the fountain composition Fors Man (1933, for Laholms city). Lundqvist also performed a bronze bust of Mayor Yngve Larsson (responsible for the Woodland Cemetery), which is found on the 3rd floor of the Stockholm City Hall .
