This fine inro is signed on the base "Kogen Saku" (made by Kogen) and has six individual sections, with an ivory bird ojime and an ivory netsuke of Fukurokuju leaning to one side. The scene depicts ducks in a river bordered by trees against a back drop of mountains. It measures 3 and three quarter inches long and 2 inches wide. Very good original condition with no cracks, dings, or repairs. This pair was appraised 28 years ago by the late Betty Killam of Chester, CT, a nationally recognized expert in netsuke and lacquer, for $1,750.00. A copy of her appraisal is available on request. Inros of this quality are difficult to come by.
