Antique true matched pair of 19th century Chinese gilt wood panels hand carved with dragons and foo lions circa 1820-1860. These are even more beautiful when seen in person. The soft patina of the gold leaf on the old waxed wood surface is difficult to convey in photographs. There are traces of old silver gilt behind the lower panels, adding depth and extra definition to the carvings. The two panels depict carved foo lions (or foo dogs), serpents, leaves, vines and flowers. Each door measures 44 inches high by 24 inches wide by 1.5 inches thick. I got a chair from my grandmother with carved dragons on it. After searching everywhere, I found the same chair on your website. I thought it looked Asian, but had no idea how valuable it is! I almost sold it to a friend for a hundred bucks. I am so glad I used your site to learn how much it's worth! Your price guide is such a great tool! Thanks Again!!
