This Anglo Indian bird base table, which can be used as a dining or center table, is crafted in wonderfully colored blackwood (East Indian Rosewood). This table is a fine example of Anglo Indian craftsmanship of the mid 19th century era of Queen Victoria's rule. The edge and shallow frieze of this table are carved with intricate pierced foliate designs interspersed with animals, birds and pavilions. The base is heavily carved and ends in a platform base supported by four carved wood feet. The style and carving of this piece along with the woods employed point to Bombay as its place of origin. The table was originally higher but was lowered many years ago to a comfortable dining height. I got a chair from my grandmother with carved dragons on it. After searching everywhere, I found the same chair on your website. I thought it looked Asian, but had no idea how valuable it is! I almost sold it to a friend for a hundred bucks. I am so glad I used your site to learn how much it's worth! Your price guide is such a great tool! Thanks Again!!
