Portrait of Jennie Burr by Fannie Burr c1890, oil on canvas. Depicts a profile of Jennie with her beautiful hair tied up in a bun. Professionally cleaned and framed. Burr signature on back along with the estate probate number 268 shows on its back. Excellent condition. The frame measures 20.75 x 25 inches and the painting itself measures 16 x 20 inches. Fannie Burr (1858-1931) was born into Monroe, CT's most prominent family. Her father was a very successful farmer. She attended and graduated from Mt Holyoke College and the Yale School of Fine Arts, and studied at the Art Students League in NYC. These accomplishments were very rare for a young woman in those days. Listed in Who Was Who in American Art by Peter Falk. Exhibition at the New Britain Museum of American Art New Britain CT.
