President "General Ulysses S Grant" framed collection of three photographs of the funeral along with the envelope that held the letter from his son from Mt. McGregor Aug 29 1885 (This is where Grant died on July 23,1885 a month before this letter from Fred ). The letter as best as we can make out says" My Mother Mrs US Grant wishes to extend her grateful thanks to you, the committee and the Companions of the M.O.L.L.U.S. ( Military Order of Loyal Legions of the US) for the attentions that the remains of my father received at your hands. Respectfully F D Grant. ( Frederick D. Grant was US Grant's eldest son) E.L. Molineaux Maj. Genl. J. U?V? C. Comd'r. Each of the three photographs measures 5 by 7 and three quarter inches. The original frame measures 22 by 33 inches. The photographs to have some fading.
