Rare set of 7 William Capen (born c. 1801) painted Windsor tablet-top chairs in original yellow paint, Portland, Maine, circa 1830-40. Excellent original condition, some very minor restoration to decoration. Each chair measures 17.5" W at the seat, 19.5 inches wide at the top, 17.5" H to the seat, and 34.25" H to the back. For an identical example, please see page 539, Figure 7-111, American Windsor Chairs by Nancy Goyne Evans, published 1996 by Hudson Hill Press and Winterthur Museum.
