Jerome Kern type written and signed 2 page letter to Bernard Dougall, NYC, 1935. Typed on on his personal stationary. Folded. Measures 8.5 x 11 inches. He talks about passing a kidney stone, and about the adaptation of "May Wine," and having not read the Sinclair Lewis book, along with a funny Leo Slezak anecdote. Composer Jerome Kern was born 1/27/1885, in NYC. After studying at the New York College of Music, he worked in London theater then became the vice president of a U.S. music publishing company. During the early 20th century, his music was featured every Broadway season. In 1941, the New York Philharmonic performed an adaptation of his musical Show Boat. He died in Manhattan on 11/11/1945.
