William and Mary style gateleg table with Spanish feet. This hand made bench made table was crafted by "Matthew Austin" interpreted from an example in the Brooklyn Museum that was owned by Benjamin Franklin. He has been commissioned to paint murals in Manhattan, Philadelphia, Boston, and abroad. His love of period American furniture has placed his work in private homes of collectors and galleries of note. He has been written up in several publications, most recently in Old House Journal and Country Living, and Early American Life. His clients include Wayne Pratt Antiques, Wilton Historical Society Museum, and the American Folk Art Museum. We rarely sell reproduction furnishing. The only time we elect to do so is when the examples are museum quality hand made reproductions of rare and desirable forms. For period examples of this table, please see American Interiors The Brooklyn Museum, page 44; Construction of American Furniture Treasures by Lester Margon, AID, page 77; The Magazine Antiques, January 1987, page 35.
