Antique Victorian lions head mahogany Morris Chair. It is named after William Morris, the 19th century English poet and designer. It is English, circa 1910, and. appears to be mahogany. Most Morris are made of oak in the straight-lined Arts and Crafts style. The form of this chair was modern in its day, but its ornamentation was traditional: the roaring lions, paw feet, shell-carved apron, and chair splat sides are borrowed from 18th century Chippendale furniture. Morris chairs are still popular today because of their comfort and durability
