"New England flattop highboy" This Connecticut highboy measures 61 and one quarter inches high overall , 19 and three quarter inches deep 35 inches wide at the top molding,33 inches wide at the top case and 35 inches wide at the base molding. The back boards are all hand chamfered. Dovetailed front and drawers, wood pin construction. 19th century maple with graduated drawers and Queen Anne cabriole legs. Two pieces, which can be seen in the detailed, digital, photographs. This is truly a beautiful piece with wonderful color. This piece was made sometime in the 19th century from 18th century boards and construction. All the wood pins are square hand cut. The top and bottom of the drawer case are hand chamfered and dovetailed. The back boards the top and bottom are all hand chamfered and have two hundred year old original color. We at first thought this to be a 18th century piece but it took quite some time for us to realize it was made a little out of period with early boards.
