Winterhalder & Hofmeier fruitwood bracket clock in original good running condition. This clock has a brass dial with a matted center and silvered Roman numeral chapter ring, applied spandrels and subsidiary fast/slow and chime selector dials in the arch, and a beveled glass door. The works are marked "W&H", with pendulum and key. It measures 21 x 11.5 x 7.5 inches. Winterhalder & Hofmeier were considered the finest clockmakers in the Victorian era. They were based in several towns in Germany’s Black Forest region. The company was established in 1810 by Thomas Winterhalder in Friedenweiler, southern Germany, and was continued by his three sons Matthäus, Karl and Linus.
